The GUPW Main AchievementsThe GUPW has achieved the following: A: ON the National Level 1- Establishing branches within Palestinian communities at home and in exile . Theses branches have performed social and national role among the masses of women in:
This, in addition to a number of branches in occupied Gaza and west Bank, that worked under cover. 2- Revival of Palestinian National folklore and organizing exhibition for art, customs and embroidery in different parts of the world. 3- Establishment of the children's home of Steadfastness for the children who have suffered the loss of both parents during the ferocious battle against the struggle of the Palestinian people. 4- Establishing vocational training centers and educational institutes in the different Palestinian refugee camps in occupied Palestine and within the most impoverished and oppresses communities in axial. The GUPW also opened classes for eradication of illiteracy , as well as nurseries and Kindergartens, focusing on pre-school education. 5- Coordination with other popular Palestinian unions, consolidating the unity of the Palestinian people in accordance with our national program. 6- Attained membership of the National Palestinian Council. Our representative now have reached 27 members. We have also three members at the central council . 7- Issued a Declaration of Principals concerning the Palestinian Women's rights in 1993 in Tunis . This was presents to Chairman Arafat and Palestinian Central Council. 8- The Gupw cooperated in the setting of the the National
Constitution of the Palestinian Child . B: On The Arab Level. 1-The GUPW presided one of the meetings of the General Arab Women Union to exert its efforts among the Arab and Palestinian women to unify the Arab role within the General Arab Women Union. 2- The GUPW was the initiator , organizer and director of the peace mission ship which sailed for 42 days in 1990 with 200 women of deferent nationalities, carrying milk , food and medicine for Iraqi children. 3- The GUPW was elected vice-president Arab Family Federation in Tunis. C: On The Internal Level 1- Establishing of close relationship with international women's
union and organizations. 3- The GUPW has been the active-precedent of the International
Democratic Federation for women (WIDE) since 1975 and vice-president of
the International Federation for Family Associations since 1985.
